About Us
Our Mission – Engage and Enjoy the Journey
Hi and thank for dropping by to learn a bit about the people you are dealing with and yes, we are real Aussie people. Here is just a little insight to who we are.
I retired in December 2022 at the ripe old age of 58 and wanted to do something with my time. The reason I retired is to spend more time camping with my husband and 2 Golden retrievers.
We love the camping life and hope to do a lap of Australia in the near future. We see so many people doing this, young and old, and by having this site we can help you, our customers, to have the essential items you need or want for your adventure.
We hope to see you guys along our travels. If you spot us come and say “hi”.
Our journey started about 20 years ago when we set off with our blended family of 4 children in an old-style canvas tent. Ray, always the calm, rational one, finally cracked it because the kids couldn’t get their camp beds together. I have never seen 4 kids scatter the way they did that day.
Finally, the tent and beds are up and everyone settled down to a nice relaxing day. (No children were hurt in the process) That night we were subjected to a torrential storm that resulted in the tent leaking profusely with all the kids beds and bedding getting wet.
Ray and I were sleeping in a pop-up tent next to the canvas tent. We didn’t leak but the top of the tent blew down to kiss the top of our heads throughout the night.
Me, being new to camping, said “no more, lets rent a cabin”!!!! Which we did. So, after that fiasco we went and purchased a new tent.
As the kids got older and moved out, Ray and I would go camping together. One particular time stands out to me when we went camping to a place called Sunny Corner.
We camped down in the gully with nobody else around. It was pitch black with lots of sounds coming from the forest. I looked over and saw a man with a hat on, behind a log, watching us. (I forgot to mention, there is a Correctional Centre a few k’s up the road) I was petrified. Ray turned the spotlight on only to find it was just the shape of the log. I still made him bring all his tools inside so nobody could kill us through our tent. Poor Ray.
This led us to our old but new to us caravan. Because nobody can get you through a caravan, right? We have had many adventures in our van but this time with our 2 Golden Retrievers, Lucy and Charlie.
We travelled to Victoria and stayed at many pretty places along the way. Stuarts Crossing, Bermagui, Gundagai, Glen Rowan, Lang Lang, Yanakie, Marlo. Our country has so many beautiful places and we can’t wait to see more and hopefully see you guys along the way.
From that day on we sought out quality gear to make our adventures more serine and enjoyable. What we found was that to get quality gear we had to visit many shop fronts and many websites to get what we needed. From that motonews24 was born. The main purpose of motonews24 is to bring as many quality products, with multiple purposes. Everything must have 2 uses whilst camping and caravanning.
Please enjoy your shopping experience and if there is a product you can’t find here please send us an email and we can source the product and load it onto our site. We will endeavour to source affordable and quality products along the way to make your journey more memorable.
Happy camping!
Leonie and Ray
